The Woman Who Ideologically Ruined AIPAC’s Mission in the United States (Part II)
If AIPAC operates in the dark and fears the light, as Steve Rosen himself admitted, then they must fear us because we will never stop exposing them.
…by Jonas E. Alexis & Gwenyth Todd
Jeff Stein of the Washington Post again said that the Israeli espionage scandal “shook official Washington a few years ago.”[1] Well, one of the individuals who literally exposed AIPAC as a fifth column in the United States is none other than Gwenyth Todd.
If pick up a copy of John Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt’s The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, you will immediately notice that those scholars meticulously document that AIPAC has been involved in pernicious activity in the U.S. for a long time.
The Israel Lobby came out in 2007 and created immediate controversy. The History News Network said that Mearsheimer and Walt’s book “gives comfort to anti-Semites.”[2]
Eliot A. Cohen of Johns Hopkins University instantly declared that the content of the Israel Lobby, which was first published as a paper in the London Review of Books, was ontologically anti-Semitic. What was one of Cohen’s serious argument? Well, The Israel Lobby was praised “from prominent white supremacists.”[3] Who were some of those “prominent white supremacists”? Cohen wrote:
“John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt’s ‘The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy’ has won David Duke’s endorsement as ‘a modern Declaration of American Independence’ and a vindication of the ex-Klansman’s earlier work, presumably including his path-breaking book, ‘Jewish Supremacism.’”[4]
Cohen brings some serious scholarship to the table by saying: “One of Mearsheimer’s University of Chicago colleagues has characterized this as ‘piss-poor, monocausal social science.’ It is indeed a wretched piece of scholarship. Israeli citizenship rests ‘on the principle of blood kinship,’ it says, and yet the country has a million non-Jewish citizens who vote.”[5]
Ladies and gentlemen, this man, who obviously hasn’t learned preliminary logic, is at Johns Hopkins University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. He is “the Robert E. Osgood Professor of Strategic Studies at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the Carey Business School” and was trained at Harvard.
I sympathize for young and precious students who are paying thousands upon thousands of dollars to learn crazy theories from this man.
Cohen never really addressed the issues that Mearsheimer and Walt point out, but since reason and logic are not part of his intellectual discourse, he resorted to a seemingly comfortable position known as character assassination.
Be that as it may, we knew that AIPAC was politically and ideologically undermining America long before The Israel Lobbycame out in 2007. Gwenyth Todd personally witnessed this phenomenon in the 1990s. Here we are going to concentrate on AIPAC’s covert activity.
Alexis: Did members of AIPAC ever attack you personally? If so, in what way? If not, have you had friends or co-workers who were attack either financially or politically by this pernicious organization?
Todd: AIPAC’s former policy director, Steve Rosen, was someone I met before I ever joined the US Government. I knew him socially through my Turkish diplomat friends. I ran into him at various points over the years, but when I was at the White House National Security Council (NSC), suddenly he wanted to meet me regularly for lunch.
Because President Clinton wanted to improve relations with Iran, I found myself being invited out regularly by Steve so he could try to find out what Clinton might try to do. Steve also wanted to point out any evils being ostensibly committed by Iran, in the hope that I would try to convince Clinton to change his mind.
Steve knew about intelligence reports often before I had ever seen them. I strongly suspected a senior NSC colleague and a top State Department official were passing intelligence to him, but it was only a guess.
Someone was certainly giving him information and it was not I. I did not really care what he was trying to do because I had my own goal: to find out which Members of Congress would be sending AIPAC-drafted letters to Clinton to try to thwart any attempts to improve relations with Iran.
I could often get advance copies of letters that were going to be sent by key senators and pass them to Sandy Berger. It made it easier to plan ways to work around AIPAC’s efforts to prevent any changes in our Iran stance.
Years later, after I had left the US Government, the FBI showed me transcripts of telephone conversations between Steve and a certain foreign diplomat. They discussed me, with Steve making it sound as if I were somehow an ally.
I think Steve used his lunches with me to cover for his real sources in his reporting. That was the only time I truly saw AIPAC stripped bare, on display, plotting directly with foreign diplomatic officials. The FBI was not permitted to approach me about it while I was at the NSC, which helps explain just how powerful AIPAC really is.
Not for the record: I was the FBI’s sole informant who helped them get Larry Franklin.[6] I wore a wire and refused all money, so I never signed anything to stop me speaking out. I did it for two years, serving as the mediator in Steve’s 6th divorce for cover.
I am a key witness whom AIPAC and Israel wanted to make sure could never testify. If you read Steve’s indictment, the narrative starts on April 13, 1999, referring to a phone call Steve made about a lunch on April 12th. Apparently, the FBI says I had lunch with Steve on April 12. The FBI agents running the task force worked hard to keep me out of it.
The Federal Prosecutors wanted me unable to testify or dead. So part of my situation in Bahrain was to prevent me testifying against Steve in court. I had to pretend to be sympathetic to the BDSM sex scene in Washington while never actually having to prove it. That took some fancy footwork, let me tell you. Long story but if I were to be able to testify, the judge could reinstate the case. But it is one heck of a story!
Alexis: I knew Steve was a wicked man working for the Israel regime for a long time. When he and another AIPAC agent Keith Weissman were caught passing classified documents from the Pentagon to Israel, Gabriel Schoenfeld, who was a senior advisor to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, defended them.[7]
Rosen, who “frequently looked at pornographic images on the job,” was also working for Daniel Pipes, the man who proposed an essentially diabolical ideology in Syria. So, the American people paid Rosen thousands upon thousands of dollars to watch porn. They also paid him to destroy countries such as Syria. If you think this is far-fetched, pay attention to the words of Rosen here:
“A lobby is like a night flower: it thrives in the dark and dies in the sun.”[8]
In other words, AIPAC operates in darkness and fears the light. This is why members of AIPAC and other organizations like the ADL will lie in your face, even though they know that people will eventually know that they lied. You remember how Abraham Foxman repeated that AIPAC does not have a strong influence on U.S. foreign policy?
Well, take it from the Israeli defender Jeffrey Goldberg. Goldberg wrote back in 2005 that Rosen believed that AIPAC
“could influence the outcome of policy disputes within the executive branch—in particular, the Pentagon, the State Department, and the National Security Council…
“[Rosen] traded in gossip and speculation, and his reports to AIPAC’s leaders helped them track currents in Middle East policymaking before those currents coalesced into executive orders. Rosen also used his contacts to carry AIPAC’s agenda to the White House.
“An early success came in 1983, when he helped lobby for a strategic coöperation agreement between Israel and the United States, which was signed over the objections of Caspar Weinberger, the Secretary of Defense, and which led to a new level of intelligence sharing and military sales.”[9]
Goldberg continued to say that AIPAC, whose “members are drawn almost entirely from a single ethnic group,” is basically “a leviathan among lobbies,”[10] which is to say that it seeks to devour perceived enemies of Israel by whatever means necessary. But the same Goldberg ridiculed the Israel Lobby and accused its authors of spreading the seeds of anti-Semitism![11]
In any event, if AIPAC operates in the dark and fears the light, then they must fear us because we will never stop exposing them. If they think we are going to stop when they bring up trumped-up charges such as “anti-Semitism,” then they’ve got another thing going. Perhaps they have good reason to be living in fear.
